Through your six core modules, you will gain an understanding of key areas such as business strategy, supply chain management, logistics, procurement and supply chain analytics. These modules will raise your awareness of the critical issues related to managing international operations and solving related problems. They will enhance your capabilities in sourcing and managing suppliers while measuring performance. You will also select one optional module which will allow you to tailor your learning towards your interests and career plans, these are covered in more detail below. Toward the end of your course, you will do a project in a supply chain management area of your choice using the knowledge and skills that you have gained.
This module provides a comprehensive understanding of operations and procurement within global supply chains, highlighting their critical role in enhancing organisational efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness. Students will develop the ability to critically evaluate operations frameworks, procurement strategies, and technological advancements that drive business transformation while ensuring compliance with environmental and ethical standards. Through case studies and practical applications, students will refine their problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling them to implement these strategies effectively in professional practice.
This module critically examines key developments in strategy and leadership, exploring the models, tools, and theories that shape contemporary practice. Students will engage in critical discussions and evaluations of these frameworks, assessing their applicability and effectiveness in different organisational contexts. A central focus is achieving a balance between theory and practice, enabling students to apply strategic and leadership concepts to navigate complexity and uncertainty within organisations. Additionally, the module encourages students to critically reflect on their own experiences and practices in light of newly acquired knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of strategic decision-making and leadership effectiveness.
This module introduces students to supply chain planning and control processes, providing a strong theoretical foundation alongside practical applications. Students will explore key concepts, models, tools, and metrics used in supply chain planning and analytics. Core topics include data visualization, probability and probability distributions, data sampling, and inferential statistics. Additionally, students will develop analytical skills through the study of confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis, enabling them to make data-driven decisions in supply chain management.
The module aims to develop strategic thinking and decision-making skills in the context of supply chain management. It explores strategies to design, optimize, and manage supply chains in dynamic and complex environments. Students taking this module will critically analyse real-world challenges, assess the impact of supply chain strategies on organizational performance, and develop innovative solutions. They will be able to align supply chain strategies with business objectives and help realise competitiveness, resilience, and value creation in diverse industries.
This module examines the strategic, value-adding role of logistics in supply networks, emphasising efficiency and adaptability in an international context. While addressing core logistics activities -from order receipt to delivery- it also considers the growing importance of sustainable practices. Students will develop an understanding of how logistics can balance operational effectiveness with environmental and social considerations to meet the demands of modern global business.
This module aims to empower students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their M.Sc. programme to undertake a significant research-based project that aligns with their professional interests and career aspirations To provide students with a means of further developing their skills and knowledge gained on their master’s programme, by applying these to a real-life business management issue or problem which they research and seek to identify potential solutions. Through conducting research on a contemporary topic and through writing up a significant project report, students are enabled to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of areas including, the application of appropriate methods of investigation, and their ability to confront and ameliorate business challenges. Developing students’ critical approach, academic research, and report-writing skills.

The primary aim of this module is to develop students’ employability skills and support their search for a placement. The module will include communication, team working, negotiation and problem-solving skills development as well as practical workshops on selection methods, CVs, cover letters, interview preparation and techniques. The module will also introduce students to other methods that will include aptitude test and assessment centres. 
This module will introduce you to the strategic project management techniques, and how they are used across a range of sectors to implement strategic corporate objectives. In particular, the module aims to offer a comprehensive account of project management, programme management, project portfolios, and systems design processes. The module will also allow you to engage with PRINCE2® project management methodology and software.
This module aims to provide a critical overview of international trade theories, with a particular focus on the role and impact of multinational enterprises (MNEs) in global markets. You will evaluate the empirical validity of trade theories and assess their implication for economic policies, global trade patterns, and corporate strategies. Through the examination of real-world trade dynamics and multinational firm operations, the module equips you with the knowledge to understand and critically engage with contemporary trade issues, policy decisions and the strategic behaviour of MNEs in an interconnected global economy.

This module offers you an academic year-long (30 - 36 weeks) professional placement that is directly applicable to your studies, encouraging you to engage in critical reflection on your learning through hands-on experience. Additionally, the module seeks to develop your intellectual and interpersonal abilities, thereby deepening their critical comprehension of real-world applications.

The module builds on learning from prior modules and provides you with the experience of working collaboratively on a real, practitioner-driven business or policy transformation project. It enables you to demonstrate proficiency in relation to scoping and addressing topical issues, challenges and opportunities in a relevant field of work. The module will develop your ability to effectively focus, present and communicate information and ideas. It aims to enable you to operationalise the knowledge and critical skills gained in their taught modules, develop and consolidate transferrable skills and facilitate integration into work.

Teaching
We aim to model a wide range of teaching strategies and approaches on the course which you can adapt to your own setting.
The course is delivered by our academics and industry partners in person and via digital platforms. Our learning activities include lectures – including talks by guest speakers – presentations, workshops seminars webinars, one-to-one tutorials and group projects.
You'll be taught by an experienced teaching team with a wide range of expertise and professional experience. Your personal tutor will support you with help and advice throughout your studies.

In a typical year, you’ll spend about 1200 hours on your course.
Outside of teaching hours, you’ll learn independently through reading articles and books, working on projects, undertaking research, and preparing for assessments including coursework and presentations.
Whether you are studying full or part-time – your course timetable will balance your study commitments on campus with time for work, life commitments and independent study. We aim to make your timetable available at least 2 weeks before the start of term. Some weeks are different due to how we schedule classes and arrange on-campus sessions.

Part-time study
Students do the modules with full-time students, but across two years
The distribution of modules is as follows:
- Three core modules worth 60 credits in the first year
- Three core and one optional and the project module worth 120 credits in the second year

We have a strong support network online and on campus to help you develop your academic skills. We offer one-to-one and group sessions to develop your learning skills together with academic support from our library, IT teams and learning experts.
Your knowledge and understanding are assessed through a range of activities, including business proposals, consultancy projects, negotiations, presentations, written assignments, and the research and writing undertaken for their dissertation. Your Cognitive skills are evaluated through coursework that requires you to access, analyse, and interpret data and literature to develop reports and business proposals. The dissertation provides an opportunity to critically evaluate, design, and propose solutions or future
research directions. Formative assessment, including drafts, peer discussions, and in-class activities, supports your learning and directly contributes to your summative assessments. Formative feedback is provided throughout the programme to guide you in refining your work and
developing advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
You'll evaluate your work, skills and knowledge and identify areas for improvement. Sometimes you'll work in groups and assess each other's progress.
Each term, you'll get regular feedback on your learning.

Part-time study
Changes to the Immigration Rules introduced in January 2018 now allows international applicants to apply for Student route (formerly tier 4) visas for part-time postgraduate study (courses leading to a qualification at RQF level 7 or SCQF level 11 and above).
Student route visa students studying part-time are subject to certain restrictions:
- No work (paid or unpaid)
- No work placements as part of the programme
- No dependants
- No extending under Student route visa in the UK. This includes Student route visa applications to work as a Students' Union Sabbatical Officer or for the Foundation Programme for postgraduate doctors and dentists
- Not eligible for the Student route visa Doctorate Extension Scheme.
